Every drop counts / Just one drop helps!
Your pad is all set up, you’ve had your house-warming party, you’ve been to your very first lecture? In other words, the new academic year has started. As a student, you may well be a party animal, bookworm, cool dude, trendy young woman, student leader, keen participator or an avid socializer …..
… But are you also a blood donor?
Perhaps you think that giving blood isn’t really necessary, that there are enough people already giving blood? The Red Cross collects blood all over the country, and it is absolutely vital that it does this. The symbolic drop is not just ‘a drop in the bucket’ or even ‘a drop in the ocean’. Because when you as (fresher) student decide to give blood, the ‘drop’ will make a world of difference to the people who need it.
Giving blood takes only minutes of your time and is just a matter of a small pinprick. By helping people in real need, maybe even saving someone’s life, you’ll have the satisfaction of knowing that you’re making a real difference. As one Buddhist saying goes ‘A drop of tenderness is more than money and power…’
For more than 75 years, volunteer donors have formed the backbone of our national blood supply, organized by the Red Cross. Would you like to save lives? Then go to www.bloedserieus.be now to find out when you can give blood on your campus.
Your first time? Congratulations! What a great start to your academic year and your blood-giving future!
Dear, I want to donate 1 unit of blood. My blood group is A “positive”. May I join you tomorrow at the University Hall? I’ve got previous experience of blood donation.
